William H. Downs, CPA
Bill Downs attended UCLA and received Bachelors and MBA degrees in accounting in the 1960s. His first employment was with Price Waterhouse& Co. He became a licensed CPA in 1969.
Bill has had his own CPA practice since 1971, doing accounting and income tax and estate work.
Bill has been active in the California Society of CPAs. Starting in 1963, he was active with the Technology Users Groups, serving as Co-chair and Program Chair. That discussion group helped accountants embrace the new computer technology.
In recent years, Bill has been focusing his work on estate and trust taxes. he has spoken to various CPA groups on topics related to estate taxes, fiduciary accounting, and fiduciary income taxes. He serves on the Steering Committee for the Los Angeles Chapter Estate Planning Committee, and as a member of the CalCPA Estate Planning Committee.
Bill has published articles related to fiduciary accounting, and fiduciary income taxes, and also computer spreadsheet uses.
Bill is currently serving on the board of San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council.
