Peace Sunday is a participant in the U. N. International Day of Peace. The event celebrates the ideals and actions to create a sustainable Culture of Peace on Earth. Projects can be either an essay or a poem or a work of art that ties into the Peace Sunday theme.
At Peace Sunday there will be an outdoor exhibition and an indoor program of speakers, music, and performances. Selected essays, poems, and artwork will be displayed at the event. Certificates will be awarded to those students whose pieces are chosen for the display.
Students are to work with their teacher, and the teacher will select the items to be chosen for Peace Sunday in cooperation with the Peace Sunday Education Committee. If selected, the students and their parents or guardians will be invited to attend. Essays for elementary school are to be 350 words or less, middle school 700 words, and high school 1200 words. Artwork is to be 11”X17” maximum (including matting if added). Entries will be picked up by the Peace Sunday Steering Committee at the schools by Friday, Sept. 16 and will be displayed at the event. Certificates will be given to those whose work is chosen to be displayed.
Peace Sunday is hosted by the Unity-and-Diversity World Council, a California 501c3 corporation in cooperation with several sponsoring organizations and numerous cosponsors.
